 Plants small to medium-sized, 1-2 cm in length, in dense tufts, dark green to yellowish green, often grayish green by hyaline point at the leaf apex. Stems with a small central strand in the cross section, and radiclose at the base, rhizoids without papillae. Leaves narrow-lanceolate, small, 0.4-0.6 mm in length. Margins entire or serrated, rarely two layer of cells in the cross section. Median cells arranged regularly in vertical lines, dark green, round, short rectangular, 5-7µm in length, gradually large toward the basal leaf. Costa not strong, disappeared at the leaf apex, with a hyaline short point, rarely a long awned point. Sporophyte is not found. This species is a endemic in the continental Antarctic.
